This size is generally reserved for waterbeds only. Super single waterbeds are actually unique, in that, there are hardly any conventional beds that exist in this size. They are sometimes referred to as a "California queen" size. Queen waterbeds are 60 inches wide and 84 inches long.
Queen waterbeds are the same width as conventional queen beds, but just like the California king bed, queen waterbeds are also four inches longer than a conventional queen bed. These king waterbeds measure 72 x 84 inches. They are actually considered "California king" as far as the dimensions go, but you definitely want to get appropriate waterbed bedding if you have one of these beds. King waterbeds are actually 6 inches narrower and four inches longer than regular king beds. Comforters, duvet covers and pillows are all pretty universal and can be used on just about any kind of bed as long as the sizes are correct. Typically, waterbeds will use all the other bedding that a conventional bed will use. Waterbed sheets and waterbed mattress pads are the only types of waterbed bedding there are. Waterbed mattress pads are basically the same thing as a regular mattress pad, but they too can have the pole pockets on the bottom. All waterbed sheet sets do have an attached top sheet, though. These pole pockets are what separate a soft-side waterbed sheet set with a hard-side waterbed sheet set. There are special "waterbed poles" available, but these are nothing more than wooden sticks that can usually be obtained at any hardware store and easily cut to size. So, there is a basically a wooden stick that holds each corner of the fitted sheet under the water bladder. A wooden pole is then stuffed into this hem, which makes it almost impossible for the fitted sheet to come untucked from the mattress. Hard-side waterbed sheets will have a small 1-2 inch hem that goes across the corners of the fitted sheet at a 45-degree angle. Both hard-side and soft-side waterbed sheets should have an attached top sheet, but this is the only thing that makes a SOFT-side sheet set special. This attachment is what keeps the top sheet in place throughout the night and is basically the only thing that separates a SOFT-side sheet set with a regular sheet set. Waterbed sheet sets are different, in that, the foot of the fitted sheet is usually attached to the foot of the flat sheet. Sheet sets typically contain a flat sheet, fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Now that you know the two types of waterbeds, you can begin to figure out what type of bedding you need. They are a little easier to climb in and out of and at first appearance are pretty indistinguishable from a conventional bed. These soft-side waterbeds tend to move around quite a bit less than hard-side waterbeds, but they do still offer the releaxing water-movement that many of us all love. It is within this cavity that the water blattress is placed. These beds usually will have a heavy duty box frame that supports a thick foam mattress with a cavity on the inside. Soft-side waterbeds are more of a cross between a regular mattress and a water bladder. Therefore, it is critical that you use specially designed waterbed bedding for these types beds. Typically, these types of waterbeds offer the most water-like movement. This supports the large rubber waterbed bladder that is slept on. Hard-side waterbeds are the older style that have a hard wooden frame which rests on a strong plywood deck. Generally, there are SOFT-side waterbeds and HARD-side waterbeds.
